Solar Backup Power
The system is installed to provide backup in a hospital complex in rural Kenya. It comprises of
- 5KVA Victron Inverter Charger
- MPPT 150/100A Charge controllers
- 270W Solar modules with Anodized Aluminium frame
- 6 String Midnite Solar PV Combiner
- 200AH, Deep Cycle Solar Batteries
The end result was stabilized and un interupted power supply for the essential hospital services.


The system design and installation features,
Electrical
- Charging – from mains and solar inputs
- Load – 4KW, 0.8 Power Factor
- Battery Up Time (BUT) – 12 hours
Mechanical
- Roof Pitch – 30 Degrees
- Roof Structure – Aluminium solar rails, L-Foot, Mid and End clamps and stainless steel bolts.
- Wind loading – Average 7.5Km/h, maximum of 20Km/h.
- Layout – East-West for maximum solar absorption and reduced wind impact.
